USDOT opens $1.25B Safe Streets and Roads for All program for FY24

Opportunity: FY 24 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grants
Overview and Eligible Uses: SS4A grants aim to significantly reduce or eliminate roadway fatalities and serious injuries by developing safety action plans implementing projects focused on all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, motorists, micromobility users, and commercial vehicle operators.
Two types of grants are available:
Planning and Demonstration Grants are intended to develop, complete, or supplement a comprehensive safety action plan or for undertaking demonstration activities.
Implementation Grants fund projects and strategies identified in an Action Plan that address roadway safety problems.
Amount: This notice makes available up to $1,256,687,000 for FY 2024. Of the funding made available, up to $580 million is available to implement projects and strategies. The remainder, $656,687,000, must be awarded for developing Action Plans.
Award Type: Grant
Eligible Applicants: Eligible applicants include metropolitan planning organizations, political subdivisions of states, federally recognized Tribal governments, or coalitions thereof.

Implementation Grant applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM (EDT) on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
