Opportunity: USDA Forest Service 2024 Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance (WPIA) Program
Overview and Eligible Uses: The WPIA program supports facilities that purchase and process tree and woody biomass byproducts from ecosystem restoration projects to reduce the risk of wildfire or infestation by insects or diseases. Eligible projects are those that will “establish, reopen, retrofit, expand, or improve a sawmill or other wood-processing facilities” using biomass byproducts from federal lands.
Amount: A total of $23.3M is available, with awards ranging betwen $50k and $1M.

Eligible Applicants: Eligible applicants include for-profit entities; state, and local governments; Indian Tribes; school districts; community, not-for-profit organizations; institutions of higher education; and special purpose districts
