USDA Opens $20M Broadband Technical Assistance Program

Opportunity: USDA Broadband Technical Assistance (BTA)
Overview and Eligible Uses: The BTA program aims to expand broadband services in eligible rural areas (as defined by USDA) through technical assistance and training to rural communities and broadband service providers.
Three categories of funding are available: TA providers for entitites that deliver TA for rural communities; TA recipients for beneficiaries of TA programming; and projects supporting cooperative for the establishment or growht of rural broadband cooperatives.
Amount: A total of $20M is availalbe under this announcement, including the following categories:
Technical Assistance Providers: $7.5M total, with award sizes between $50k and $1M
Technical Assistance Recipients: $7.5M total, with award sizes between $50k and $250k
Projects supporting cooperatives: $5M total, with award sizes between $50k and $1M
Award Type: Cooperative agreement
Eligible Applicants: A range of entity types are eligible to apply, inclduing Tribes; states, territories, and local governments; higher education institutions; nonprofits; cooperatives; corporations; and LLCs/LLPs
