USDA Opens $15M for the Classic Program through Conservation Innovation Grants

Opportunity: Announcement for Program Funding for NRCS’s Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) Classic Program for Federal fiscal year (FY) 2023
Overview and Eligible Uses: NRCS is announcing the availability of up to $15 million in CIG funding to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies in conjunction with agricultural production. CIG projects are expected to lead to the transfer of conservation technologies, management systems, and innovative approaches (such as market-based systems) to agricultural producers through the development of technical manuals, guides and for practical instruction for the private sector.
Amount: $250k to $2M per award for 17 awards

Eligible Applicants: This opportunity is open to all domestic non-Federal entities and individuals based in the United States for projects carried out in the United States. Applicants and applications must meet eligibility criteria by the application deadline to be considered for award:
Must comply with the highly erodible land and wetland conservation provisions (7 CFR Part 12).
Must be a person, joint operation, Indian tribe, or Native corporation, or other legal entity that is engaged in agricultural production or forestry management or has an interest in the agricultural or forestry operation as defined in 7 CFR Part 1400.
Must have control of the land involved for the term of the proposed contract period.
