USDA Announces $250M in New Round of Wildfire Defense Grants

Opportunity: Community Wildfire Defense Grant 2023
Overview and Eligible Uses: This new investment announcement begins the second year of the Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) program. A list of the 100 projects that were funded last year can be found here.
The CWDG program is designed to support communities that are at risk of wildfires in planning for and mitigating the risk of wildfires. Proposals should assist with plans to address wildfire risk management and/or assist with mitigation measures or actions to reduce wildfire risk. There are two types of eligible projects:
Development or revision of a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP)
Implementation of projects described in a CWPP that is no more than 10 years old
Amount: USDA anticipates $250M in total program funding. Maximum award size is $250k for the development/revision of a CWPP and $10M for the implementation of a CWPP.
