NTIA Opens $814M State Digital Equity Capacity Grant Program

Opportunity: Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration State Digital Equity Capacity Grant Program
Overview and Eligible Uses: This opportunity solicits applications for states and U.S. territories to implement State Digital Equity Plans developed under NTIA’s 2022 State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program. Digital equity plans promote the availability and affordability of broadband service and devices, accessibility of public resources, digital literacy, and cybersecurity and privacy awareness.
The NOFO also establishes the competitive process for Tribal entities to apply for Digital Equity Planning and Digital Equity Capacity funds.
Amount: A total of $814.5M is available under this NOFO, including $760.8M for states, DC, and Puerto Rico; $8.4M for U.S. territories; and $45.3M for Tribes. State award amounts are formula-based, territory awards are expected to be $2.1M each, and competitive Tribal awards are expected to range from $500k to $2M each.

Eligible Applicants: States and territories that submitted digital equity plans are eligible to apply for State Capacity grants. Tribal entities (or consortia thereof) may apply for both Digital Equity Planning and Digital Equity Capacity grants.
Key Dates: Due dates vary by applicant type:
States, D.C. and Puerto Rico: applications are due May 28, 2024
U.S. territories: applications are due July 31, 2024
Tribal entities: applications are due February 7, 2025
