Opportunity: FY2025 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) - NOAA Fisheries Citizen Science Funding Opportunity
Overview and Eligible Uses: NOAA seeks to strengthen its ability to provide science-based management and conservation of our nation’s living marine resources in a changing climate. This includes investing in novel approaches to data collection, like citizen science, that can help supplement and inform fisheries stock assessments and improve our understanding of climate change effects on marine resources and the communities that depend on them. The principal objective of this funding announcement is to support citizen science projects that can help inform federal fishery stock assessments and climate-ready fisheries management. Funding will prioritize projects that: provide information for use in stock assessments and increase understanding of current and/or future impacts of climate change on fish stocks and/or fishing communities.
Amount: $600,000 total funding to provide support for 3-8 projects at approximately $75,000 to $200,000 per project over the two-year period.
Award Type: Cooperative Agreement
Eligible Applicants:
Individuals,
Institutions of higher education,
Other nonprofits, for-profit organizations,
Foreign public entities or foreign organizations, and
State, local, territorial and Indian tribal governments.
