NOAA Opens $28M Marine Debris Program Funding
Eligible applicants: states, local governments, tribal entities, higher education institutions, nonprofits, and forprofits. Applications are due February 23, 2024.

Opportunity: NOAA Marine Debris Program: Marine Debris Interception Technologies and Marine Debris Removal programs
Overview and Eligible Uses: The NOAA Marine Debris Program supports projects to assess, remove, and prevent marine debris to benefit coastal habitat, waterways, and marine and Great Lake resources.
The Marine Debris Interception Technologies opportunity will support the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of proven marine debris interception technologies at the source of marine debris.
The Marine Debris Removal opportunity will support projects that remove and dispose of large marine debris (abandoned vessels, fishing gear, and other large debris) and prevent its re-accumulation.
Amount:
$4M is available under the Interception Technologies opportunity, with award sizes ranging betwen $100k and $1M.
$24M is availalbe under the Debris Removal opportunity, wiht award sizes ranging between $800k and $6M.

Eligible Applicants: Eligible applicants include state, local, and Tribal government entities; institutions of higher education; nonprofit organizations; and for-profit entities.
Key Dates: Potential applicants must first submit letters of intent for competitive review before submitting full proposals.
Marine Debris Interception Technologies: letters of intent are due November 15, 2023, and full proposals are due March 15, 2024
Marine Debris Removal: letters of intent are due October 27, 2023, and full proposals are due February 23, 2024
