Opportunity: Environmental Justice Projects Across the Mid-Atlantic (EPA Region 3)
Overview and Eligible Uses: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced $40 million in funding for subgrants to communities in the Mid-Atlantic region through the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking program. The Green and Healthy Homes Initiative is serving as a Regional Grantmaker and is accepting applications for subgrants up to $350,000 to fund environmental projects. These projects can involve small local clean ups, local emergency preparedness and disaster resiliency programs, environmental workforce development programs, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, fenceline monitoring and asthma related projects, healthy homes programs, and projects addressing illegal dumping, as well as projects addressing other environmental justice issues affecting their communities.

Award Type: Cooperative Agreement
Eligible Applicants:
Nonprofit organizations, community-based and grassroots nonprofit organizations .
Tribal governments (both federally recognized and state-recognized) and intertribal consortia.
Local governments.
Institutions of higher education.
Native American Organizations.
Puerto Rico.
US Territories.
Ineligible subrecipients include:
Individuals.
For profit businesses.
State governments.
Key Dates:
First round of applications due November 30, 2024.
Applications for two-year grants must be submitted by November 30, 2024.
Applicants for one-year grants will be accepted through Spring 2025.
