New $96M EV Funding Opportunity Announced

Opportunity: Fiscal Year 2022 Vehicle Technologies Office Program Wide Funding Opportunity Announcement (DOE Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy)
Overview and Eligible Uses: To fund research, development, demonstration, and deployment in cost-effective EV charging; improved mobility options for underserved communities; community engagement to accelerate clean transportation options in underserved communities; batteries and electrification; materials technologies; energy-efficient commercial off-road vehicle technologies; medium/heavy duty vehicle corridor charging and advanced engine and fuel technologies to improve fuel economy and reduce GHG emissions.
Amount: Individual awards will range between $300k and $7.5M, up to a total of $95.7M. Non-federal match / cost sharing depends on the award, but is generally around 20% for this program.
Award Type: Competitive grant
Eligible Applicants: The primary applicants are intended to be:
Institutions of higher education
For-profit entities
Non-profit entities, and
State, local, and tribal nations
However, individual US citizens are also eligible to apply.
Key Dates:
Concept Paper (required for full application) due August 25, 2022
Full Application due November 10, 2022
Applicants will be informed of the status of their concept paper and whether they will be invited to submit a full application by October 4, 2022.
