NTIA Opens New $1B Broadband Funding Program
Eligible applicants: states, tribal entities, forprofits, nonprofits, regional authorities. Applications are due: Sep 30, 2022
Overview and eligible uses: The Enabling Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Program provides funding for the construction, improvement, or acquisition of middle mile infrastructure. This opportunity comes on the heels of the announcement of the $42.5B Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment program and is a great way for localities to secure additional funds for broadband.
Amount: Awards of $5M to $100M. Awards cannot account for more than 70% of the total project cost.
Type: Competitive grant
Eligible applicants: To apply for the MMG Program, an entity must be a State, political subdivision of a State, Tribal government, technology company, electric utility, utility cooperative, public utility district, telecommunications company, telecommunications cooperative, nonprofit foundation, nonprofit corporation, nonprofit institution, nonprofit association, regional planning council, Native entity, economic development authority, or any partnership of two (2) or more of these entities.
Deadlines: Applications are due September 30, 2022. Awardees will be notified by February 16, 2023.
