Important Tracker Updates: Moving to Drexel University, Going Free, and Holiday Closure
The Tracker will be closed December 23 to January 2nd. Going forward, it will be managed by the Nowak Metro Finance Lab and become an entirely free tool.
Happy Holidays! After six months of diligently tracking funding opportunities from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (Bipartisan Infrastructure Law), the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act, we have several important and exciting updates to share about the future of this Tracker.
Transfer to Nowak Metro Finance Lab at Drexel University
We are pleased to announce that the Nowak Metro Finance Lab at Drexel University will manage the Infrastructure Investment Tracker in 2023 and beyond. The Nowak Metro Finance Lab, led by Bruce Katz, was founded in 2018 to help cities identify and implement innovative strategies to leverage public assets and fund public infrastructure for public benefit, with a focus on supporting inclusive and equitable growth.
The tracker was created and run by Florian Schalliol, a state and local economic development advisor, off the side of his desk, and was conceived out of frustration that no such simple tool existed for local practitioners to track the countless funding opportunities from the federal spending packages passed in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. . Moving the tracker to the Nowak Lab will bring additional capacity as well as considerable experience with local and federal finance to the Tracker. Looking ahead, the Lab will bring added data, insights, and analysis while still providing the same timely funding updates.
Transition to a Free Tool
With the Nowak Lab assuming management of the Tracker, it will become an entirely free tool. Users who have purchased paid subscriptions will be refunded for any pre-paid Tracker subscriptions (for example, if you purchased an annual subscription 6 months ago, you will be refunded for half of your purchase). Expect those refunds to roll out in the coming weeks and email iijatracker@gmail.com if you have any questions. We want to thank all the paid subscribers who helped make this Tracker possible for the last six months!
Holiday Break
Since this Tracker was started nearly six months ago, we have provided updates on new funding opportunities within 72 hours of their release, with very few exceptions. As we approach the end of the year, we will be taking a break from providing these updates. The Tracker will be “closed” from 12:00 PM ET on Friday, December 23 until 12:00 PM on Monday, January 2. In this time, we expect few, if any, federal funding opportunities to be released given federal closures. We will see you in the new year!
