HUD Opens $5M Thriving Communities Grant Program

Opportunity: Thriving Communities (HUD)
Overview and Eligible Uses: To strengthen local capacity to advance and execute transformative infrastructure investments in underserved and lower-resourced communities; to connect transportation and infrastructure investments funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act with other crucial investments like housing. At this time, HUD is seeking applications for technical assistance providers who can take a localized, holistic approach to technical assistance, working across sectors and building local capacity. HUD expects technical assistance providers to have experience partnering with local community-based organizations to satisfy specific technical assistance assignments, while increasing local capacity and supporting equitable engagement and outcomes.
Amount: HUD expects to award at least 2 awards between $500,000 and $3M each, for a total of $5M in award funding.
Award Type: Competitive grant
Eligible Applicants: Most entities (e.g., for-profit organizations, nonprofits, higher-ed institutions, tribal organizations) are eligible to apply. Individuals are not eligible.
Key Dates:
Applications for technical assistance providers are due on November 22, 2022. HUD will open applications for technical assistance recipients at a later date.
