Overview and Eligible Uses: Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) Grants for Tribes and Intertribal Consortia support initiatives that enhance tribal waste management systems, reduce waste, promote a circular economy, and contribute to more sustainable and resilient tribal communities.
The scope of the grant includes projects aimed at improving solid waste management practices, enhancing recycling, composting, and materials recovery infrastructure, and addressing environmental justice concerns in tribal communities. Applicants must focus on objectives such as developing plans for managing post-consumer materials, increasing data collection for national recycling goals, expanding materials management infrastructure, identifying markets for recycled materials, or improving recycling rates and material quality in tribal areas.
Amount: A total of $20,000,000 is available. EPA intends to make approximately 20 awards ranging from $100,000 to $1,500,000 each.

Political subdivisions, individuals, for-profit organizations, and nonprofits (except for intertribal consortia) are NOT eligible for this funding opportunity
