Opportunity: FY24 BROWNFIELDS JOB TRAINING (JT) GRANT
Overview and Eligible Uses: This funding opportunity, provided by EPA's Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization (OBLR), invites eligible entities to deliver Brownfields Job Training programs. The programs aim to recruit, train, and place unemployed and under-employed residents in various aspects of hazardous and solid waste management, including sustainable cleanup and chemical safety. The grants prioritize environmental justice by benefiting communities historically affected by economic disinvestment and environmental contamination.
The goal is to create a skilled local workforce, support revitalization efforts, and provide good-paying jobs with labor standards and workforce programs. The Brownfields Job Training Grants cover a range of activities, such as assessment, cleanup, remediation, and planning for brownfield revitalization.
Applications targeting high-need individuals and addressing employment barriers will receive favorable evaluation.
Amount: EPA has allocated $12 million in total funding for this program. It is expected that approximately 24 awards will be granted, with each award capped at $500K

Eligible Applicants:
General Purpose Unit of Local Government
Land Clearance Authority or other quasi-governmental entity
Government entity created by State Legislature.
Regional Council or group of General Purpose Units of Local Government.
Redevelopment Agency that is chartered or otherwise sanctioned by a State.
Indian Tribe other than in Alaska State
Alaskan Native Regional Corporation, Alaska Native Village Corporation, and the Metlakatla Indian Community.
Nonprofit organizations.
