EPA Announces $30M for Great Lakes Projects in Underserved Communities

Opportunity: Great Lakes Restoration Initiative FY 2023 Request for Applications (RFA) to Create Great Lakes Environmental Justice Grant Programs (GLEJGPs)
Overview and Eligible Uses: The Great Lakes National Program Office (GLNPO) is offering a competitive grant funding opportunity for the fiscal year 2023 to establish Great Lakes Community Environmental Justice Grant Programs. These programs will provide subawards for environmental restoration projects in historically underserved Great Lakes communities.
This RFA expects to provide funding available for two types of applications: applications that aim to provide funding for projects in a particular region of the Great Lakes Basin, and applications that aim to provide funding for projects across the entire Great Lakes Basin.
Amount: This funding opportunity provides a total of $30 million. For projects that cover the entire basin, one award will be granted, with funding ranging from $10 million to $20 million. For projects focused on specific regions, the EPA plans to provide funding for approximately five awards, with each regional applicant being able to request between $2 million and $10 million for their program.

interstate agencies,
federally recognized Indian tribes and tribal organizations,
local governments,
institutions of higher learning (i.e., colleges and universities), and
non-profit organizations as defined in 2 C.F.R. § 200
