DOT Opens $88M for Nationally Significant Federal Lands and Tribal Projects Program

Opportunity: 2023 Nationally Significant Federal Lands and Tribal Projects Program
Overview and Eligible Uses: The purpose of this program is to support projects of national significance for construction, reconstruction, or rehabilitation of transportation facilities within, adjacent to, or providing access to Federal or Tribal lands. Projects should support DOT’s goals of safety and good repair, improve quality of life for the local community and traveling public, and support economic vitality. Projects must have an estimated construction cost of $12.5M or greater.
Amount: DOT anticipates approximately $88M in total program funding. Approximately 4 awards of up to $44M will be granted.
Award Type: Grant
Eligible Applicants: Entities eligible to receive funding under the Federal Lands Access Program, the Federal Lands Transportation Program, the Tribal Transportation Program, and the Federal Lands Planning Program are eligible to apply for the Nationally Significant Federal Lands and Tribal Projects Program.
Additionally, a state, county, or unit of local government may apply only if sponsored by an eligible Federal Land Management Agency or federally recognized Tribe.
