DOT Opens $365M Corridor Identification and Development Grant Program

Opportunity: Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Corridor Identification and Development Grant Program
Overview and Eligible Uses: The Corridor ID Program intends to guide intercity passenger rail development throughout the country. The program develops a pipeline of intercity rail corridors to receive Federal financial support and technical assistance.
The program is structured as a three step process. Step 1 involves scoping, scheduling, and cost estimates; Step 2 involves a service development plan; and Step 3 involves project development.
Both undeveloped/new corridor concepts and corridor concepts that have been subject to planning and development activities are eligible to be considered.
Funds for this program were appropriated by BIL.
Amount: A total of $365M is available under this program. Step 1 awards are for $500k each. There is no set award size for Step 2 or Step 3. Once a project is selected for a Step 1 awards, funding for Step 2 and 3 is no longer competitive and is awarded upon successful completion of the preceding step.
