DOT Opens $3.35B for Combined Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods Program -New approach streamlines applications for Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhood Access and Equity programs

Opportunity: DOT Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods Programs
Overview and Eligible Uses: DOT is issuing a single NOFO and application for two programs: the Reconnecting Communities Pilot (RCP) program and the Neighborhood Access and Equity (NAE) program. The programs support projects that advance community connection projects, prioritizing disadvantaged communities, by improving access to daily needs, fostering equitable development, and removing barriers to community connectivity.
Three types of grants are available:
Community Planning Grants - supports planning activities for future construction projects (RCP and NAE funds);
Capital Construction Grants - supports projects to remediate, remove, repair or create new transportation infrastructure to improve community connectivity (RCP and NAE funds); and
Regional Partnerships Challenge Grants - supports projects administered by two or more entities to address persistent regional challenges related to access and mobility (NAE funds only)
Amount: A total of $3.35B is being made available under the combined programs, including:
$185M for Community Planning Grants,
$2.72B for Capital Construction Grants, and
$450M for Regional Partnerships Challenge Grants
