DOT Opens $21M Thriving Communities Program

Opportunity: Thriving Communities Program (DOT)
Overview and Eligible Uses: The Thriving Communities Program funds and matches technical assistance providers to under-resourced and disadvantaged communities. Both under-resourced communities AND technical assistance providers can apply to either receive or provide technical assistance, funded by DOT.
For under-resources and disadvantaged communities, TCP will provide two years of deep-dive assistance to selected communities to help them plan and develop a pipeline of comprehensive transportation, housing, and community revitalization activities. For technical assistance providers, TCP will help selected communities in a variety of activities from preparing application materials or predevelopment activities to deploying innovative community engagement, workforce development and clean technology strategies.
Amount: At least three technical assistance providers will likely receive between $3.5M and $6M each, for a total of $21M.
Award Type: In-kind technical assistance (for technical assistance recipients) and competitive grant funds (for technical assistance providers)
Eligible Applicants:
For technical assistance recipients: State, local, and Tribal governments; US Territories, Metropolitan or rural transportation planning organization; transit agency, other political subdivisions of state or local government.
For technical assistance providers: nonprofits, state or local governments, Indian Tribes, philanthropic entities, other technical assistance providers with demonstrated capacity to develop / provide technical assistance, planning, and capacity building
Key Dates:
Letters of interest for technical assistance recipients are due by December 6, 2022.
Applications for technical assistance providers are open until November 22, 2022.
