Commercial Driver’s License Program Implementation (CDLPI) Grant Program
Overview and Eligible Uses: FMCSA’s programs support a range of CMV safety-related activities.
HP-ITD: the HP-ITD program aims to advance technological capabilities and promote the deployment of intelligent transportation system applications for CMVs
HP-CMV: the HP-CMV program supports projects that promote safety and FMCSA compliance, increase public awareness/education, develop new technologies, and reduce CMV crashes
HP-ETS: the HP-ETS program supports training train for non-federal employees who conduct CMV enforcement activities and the development of training materials to improve CMV safety
CMVOST: the CMVOST program aims to increase the number of CDL holders with enhanced operator safety training to reduce the number and severity of CMV crashes
CDLPI: the CDLPI program aims to increase compliance with CDL-related regulations at 49 CFR Parts 383 and 384 by providing funding to states and national organizations with compliance-related activites.
Amount: A total of $180M is available across the five programs:
HP-ITD: $40M total; 35 awards of up to $2M each
HP-CMV: $46.5M total; 30 awards of up to $2M each
HP-ETS: $5M total; up to 3 awards
CMVOST: $3.5M total; 15 awards of up to $200k each
CDLPI: $84.4M total; 55 awards
