DOT Opens $1.2B Safe Streets and Roads for All Program

Opportunity: FY 23 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grants
Overview and Eligible Uses: SS4A grants aim to significantly reduce or eliminate roadway fatalities and serious injuries by developing safety action plans implementing projects focused on all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, motorists, micromobility users, and commercial vehicle operators.
Two types of grants are available:
Planning and Demonstration Grants are intended to develop, complete, or supplement a comprehensive safety action plan or for undertaking demonstration activities
Implementation Grants fund projects and strategies identified in an Action Plan that address roadway safety problems
In the FY 22 cycle, USDOT awarded $800 million in grants for more than 500 projects.
Amount: Up to $1.177B is available under this announcement. DOT expects to make hundreds of Planning and Demonstration grants and up to 100 Implementation grants.
Planning and Demonstration grants are expected to range from $100k to $10M, while Implementation grants are exptected to range from $2.5M to $25M.
