Overview and Eligible Uses: The BLM Alaska program aims to partner with organizations to support fuels management and community fire assistance, mitigating the risks of catastrophic wildfires in local communities. This initiative primarily involves coordinating efforts, reducing hazardous fuels, and educating landowners on wildfire prevention and mitigation. Its objectives align with climate change adaptation, job creation, and conservation efforts, specifically focusing on fostering resilient landscapes and fire-adapted communities. The program supports projects under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, targeting areas such as wildland urban interfaces, education, and outreach programs, thereby promoting fire-adapted communities and resilient landscapes. Eligible uses include fuels management activities, fire education and training, community wildfire protection planning, enhancing local employment opportunities, and establishing monitoring and maintenance plans for sustainable hazard reduction and community fire education.
Amount: Estimated total funding is $3M with maximum awards of $800,000 and minimum awards of $5,000
