Overview and Eligible Uses:
Colorado Cultural and Paleontological Resource: This program includes Projects such as conducting research to deepen understanding of America’s natural and cultural history, monitoring and stabilizing at-risk heritage resources, and advancing cultural resource management through training, field schools, and internships. Additional efforts involve improving cultural heritage data management, preserving collections at recognized facilities, expanding public access to museum collections, and fostering engagement with Native American communities. Public outreach and education programs, development of historic sites with interpretive potential, and support for BLM’s Tribal consultation initiatives are also key focus areas.
Colorado Recreation and Visitor Services: This Program offers diverse recreational opportunities that benefit communities while advancing key administrative priorities, including racial equity, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. Aligned with major initiatives such as the Inflation Reduction Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and Executive Orders on racial equity and climate action, the program supports projects that promote community health, environmental justice, and equitable outdoor access. In fiscal year 2025, efforts will focus on engaging youth, tribes, and underserved populations in public land stewardship; improving access to climate-resilient outdoor activities; removing barriers to recreation; and delivering up-to-date, accessible visitor information for a sustainable and inclusive recreational experience.
Colorado Forest and Woodlands Resource Management: This program prioritizes projects that support forest and woodland health, including preparation, administration, or implementation efforts at a national level. Key activities involve project preparation tasks such as site surveys, environmental clearances, and NEPA documentation; project administration tasks like subcontracting and performance inspections; and implementation efforts aligned with land management goals, including forest treatments and timber salvaging. Strategic goals include enhancing forest resilience to wildfires, pests, and drought; promoting sustainable wood product and biomass harvests; balancing timber salvage with habitat conservation and watershed health; providing public access to harvest forest resources; and expediting NEPA processes to accelerate ecosystem restoration. These initiatives aim to strengthen forest sustainability while supporting local economies and public engagement.
