DOE Opens Applications for $4M Advancing Fish Passage and Protection Technologies Program

Opportunity: Advancing Fish Passage and Protection Technologies (DOE)
Overview and Eligible Uses: To advance innovative fish passage technologies by providing data on biological effects and fish passage performance. Eligible funded projects include: 1) novel solutions with evidence for next steps testing needs for research and development leading to market adoption; and 2) innovations to existing technologies that reduce negative impacts to fish, increase performance, show potential to dramatically reduce costs, and/or present applications to novel use cases (e.g., different fish species evaluations, environmental conditions, or types of infrastructure).
Amount: Up to five awards ranging between $500k and $1.3M, for a total of $4M in funding. A cost-share of 20% is required, except for nonprofit entities and institutions of higher education, which are exempt from cost-sharing requirements.
Award Type: Competitive grant
Eligible Applicants: Most entities are eligible to apply, including individuals, non-profit organizations, state, local, and tribal governments, for-profit entities and institutions of higher education. 501©(4) organizations are not eligible.
Key Dates: Concept Papers are due December 5, 2022. Full Applications are due March 27, 2023.
