DOE Opens Applications for $18.7M for Centers of Excellence at IACs
The program will fund up to five new Centers at existing Industrial Assessment Centers (IACs)

Overview and Eligible Uses: The Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains is seeking to fund up to five new Centers of Excellence at universities that already host existing Industrial Assessment Centers (IACs), to coordinate the activity of other regional IACs. IACs provide small- and medium-sized manufacturers with recommendations for improving energy efficiency, reducing waste, and increasing productivity.
The new Centers of Excellence will be responsible for:
Identifying and developing new technologies, tools, and practices that can be deployed by IACs in their region,
Coordinating with national and regional stakeholders,
Coordinating outreach to small-and medium-sized manufacturers, particularly those in disadvantaged communities,
Mentoring and training IAC directors and staff regionally,
Developing new assessment methods and expanding the reach of the program,
Building relationships with labor unions and apprenticeship programs,
Supporting clean energy workforce development programs, and the introduction of new credentials, degree programs, and certifications.
Note: The Department of Education will soon open a separate funding opportunity to establish new IACs.
Amount: Individual awards will be for $2.5M to $3.75M for a five year performance period, for a total of up to $18.7M in total funding

Eligible Applicants: Private institutions of higher education, public and state controlled institutions of higher education that already host existing Industrial Assessment Centers (IACs)
