DOE Opens $8.5B for Home Energy Rebate Programs

Opportunity: Home Energy Rebate Programs: Home Efficiency Rebates & Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates
Overview and Eligible Uses: The Home Energy Rebate Programs aim to help states develop, implement, and enhance residential energy efficiency and electrification programs in US households. These programs will save consumers $1B in annual energy costs and support the creation of tens of thousands of construction and manufacturing jobs.
The Home Energy Rebates Programs includes two programs. The Home Efficiency Rebates Program offers $4.3B to fund state programs that reduce the upfront cost of energy efficiency upgrades in US households. The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates Program offers $4.2B to fund state programs that reduce the upfront cost of efficient electric technologies in US households.
Amount: DOE anticipates $8.5B in total program funding. Rebate allocations by state can be found here.
Award Type: Grants via formula funding
Eligible Applicants: States, territories, and the District of Columbia are eligible to apply. A separate application for Tribal Home Energy Rebates is forthcoming.
Key Dates: States should notify DOE if they intend to decline program funds by August 16, 2024. States should submit applications no later than January 31, 2025.
