DOE Opens $45M for States to Implement Updated Building Energy Codes

Opportunity: Bipartisan Infrastructure Law: Resilient and Efficient Codes Implementation
Overview and Eligible Uses: This funding is the first of five annual installments that will be released as part of a $225 million program established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
These funds are intended to be used to support the adoption of upgraded state and local building energy codes that would apply to new buildings, renovations, and additions to property. The funds can also support the training and technical assistance necessary to implement new codes at the state and local level. Updated building energy efficiency standards are intended to result in more energy efficient commercial and residential buildings and lower energy consumption.
Amount: DOE will issue 10 to 30 awards worth between $500,000 and $10M each, for a total of $45M

Eligible Applicants: States, which can apply in partnership with state or local building departments, builders, contractors, architects, engineers, design and construction professionals, academia, research, trade organizations, consumer advocates, regional energy efficiency organizations or others who would help implement new codes.
