DOE Opens $40M Training for Residential Energy Contractors Program

Opportunity: DOE Training for Residential Energy Contractors (TREC) program
Overview and Eligible Uses: The TREC program aims to “reduce the cost of training, testing, and certifying residential energy efficiency and electrification contractors.” The program awards funds to states to train small contractors and implement workforce development programs related to residential clean energy and energy efficiency.
Eligible uses include programs that reduce the cost of training contractors, provide access to workforce development tools for contractors, and that partner with community-based organizations to implement eligible training activities.
Amount: A total of $40M is available. DOE anticipates making 10-30 awards of $250k-$5M each.
