DOE Opens $15M to National Labs for Proposals on Clean Hydrogen and Energy Storage
Eligible applicants: states, forprofits, nonprofits, local governments, tribal entities, higher education institutions. Applications are due: June 27, 2023
Announcement Type: Lab Call/Funding Opportunity Announcement (This program is currently accepting applications)
Opportunity: Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Technology Commercialization Fund
Overview and Eligible Uses: Nascent technologies often include a wide range of different entities working to develop solutions in isolation. This yields a range of approaches that can be vastly different and cause issues as these technologies converge into emerging industries. This lab call aims to address commercialization challenges arising when attempting to aggregate fragmented industries or disparate projects for scale up or replication. This program is part of DOE’s Office of Technology Transitions ongoing effort to commercialize cutting-edge energy technologies.
OTT envisions selecting one project per topic, each led by a team consisting of multiple national labs. The topics include:
Collaborative Alignment for Clean Hydrogen
Collaborative Alignment for Long Term Energy Storage
Amount: $15 million total is available, which will be split between two different consortiums, one for each topic.
Award Type: TBA
Eligible Applicants: The lead applicant(s) must be a coalition of at least two national laboratories. Additional coalition partners can include any nonfederal entity, including private companies, state or local governments, colleges, universities, tribal entities, or nonprofit organizations.
Key Dates: Concept papers are due April 28, 2023 and the final submission deadline for full applications is June 27, 2023.
