Opportunity: Department of Energy Transmission Facilitation Program (TFP)
Overview and Eligible Uses: TFP facilitates construction, replacement, and capacity upgrades of eligible power transmission lines to increase system capacity, efficiency, resiliency, and reliability.
This RFP solicits applications for capacity contracts in which DOE commits to purchase up to 50% of the maximum capacity of a transmission line as an “anchor customer”. DOE will then sell its capacity rights to recover its costs.
Eligible projects are transmission lines with capacity of at least 1,000 MW for new lines or 500 MW for upgrades to existing lines or new lines in an existing corridor.
Amount: Up to $1.2 billion in capacity contracts

Eligible Applicants: Eligible applicants include any entity seeking to carry out eligible transmission construction, replacement, or upgrade projects.
Key Dates: Applications are in two parts. Part 1 applications are due March 11, 2024. Select applicants will be invited to submit Part 2 applications, expected in late May 2024.
