DOE Announces Intent to Open $750M for Clean Hydrogen Technology

Overview and Eligible Uses: This funding is a portion of the $1.5B awarded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support the development and commercialization of clean hydrogen.
Funded projects will “address the underlying technical barriers to reducing the cost of clean hydrogen that can’t be overcome by scale alone and ensure emerging commercial-scale deployments will be viable with future lower-cost, higher-performing technology.” Of the $1.5B, $500M will go toward clean hydrogen technology, and $1B will go toward electrolyzer development. The $750M to be opened up soon is part of these funds.
DOE is soliciting submissions from potential grant applicants to add to their Teaming Partner list for this grant, so applicants can identify potential partners for projects. DOE’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office (HFTO) will manage the program.
