Announcement Type: Prize competition
Opportunity: DOE Commercial Direct Air Capture Pilot Prize for Advanced Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies
Overview and Eligible Uses:
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) plans to develop carbon dioxide removal technologies to directly eliminate legacy carbon dioxide pollution from the atmosphere, offsetting emissions from difficult-to-abate sectors like aviation and shipping.
Carbon dioxide removal is crucial for achieving the Biden-Harris Administration's ambitious climate and clean energy goals. The American-Made Commercial Direct Air Capture Pilot Prize, supported by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will aid in developing and deploying commercially ready direct air capture pilot projects. This initiative will advance the industry, create meaningful and well-paying jobs, boost private investment, and deliver the benefits of climate investments to communities hosting clean energy projects.
This funding comes from Section 41005.b of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
