DOE and EPA Open $350M Mitigating Emissions from Marginal Conventional Wells Program

Opportunity: DOE/EPA Methane Emissions Reduction Program (MERP)
Overview and Eligible Uses: The MERP program aims to mitigate methane emissions from marginal conventional wells (MCWs). The program provides financial assistance to operators/well owners to permanently plug and abandon MCWs and to monitor methane emissions from MCWs.
Amount: A total of $350M is being made available by non-competitive formula, based on a state’s proportion of all national MCWs. The minimum allocation is $125k.

Eligible Applicants: 30 states specified in the ALRD are eligible for fund allocations
