Overview and Eligible Uses:
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) ID Wildlife Program is a comprehensive initiative focused on the conservation and management of wildlife habitats and species on public lands. This program collaborates with partner organizations to ensure the maintenance of functioning ecosystems, implementation of restoration projects, monitoring of wildlife populations, and education of the public regarding conservation efforts. The key objectives include:
Maintaining functioning wildlife habitats and species populations.
Developing and implementing restoration projects to restore degraded habitats.
Inventorying and monitoring priority habitats and species to track trends and inform conservation strategies.
Educating the public about the importance of wildlife conservation and fostering stewardship.
Collaborating with national and regional efforts to conserve amphibians, reptiles, pollinators, upland game, waterfowl, big game, and other wildlife species.
BLM ID also has an opportunity to contribute significantly to fuels management and wildfire prevention efforts in collaboration with partner organizations. This initiative aims to reduce the risk and impact of catastrophic wildfires on local communities by:
Implementing hazardous fuels reduction strategies to mitigate fire hazards.
Enhancing wildfire detection systems for early intervention and response.
Conducting fire prevention training and education programs for landowners and communities.
Restoring and maintaining healthy ecosystems to promote natural fire resilience.
Monitoring resource conditions and project effectiveness to ensure ongoing wildfire risk reduction.
Amount:
BLM ID anticipates making 5 awards between $10K and $100K for Wildlife Program.
BLM anticipates making 6 awards between $100K and $1M for Fuels Management Program
Award Type: Cooperative Agreement
Eligible Applicants: Special district governments; Independent school districts; Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments); City or township governments; County governments; Public and State controlled institutions of higher education; Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized); Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities; Private institutions of higher education; State governments
