Announcement Type: Notice of Funding Opportunity (this program is accepting applications)
Opportunity: FY25 IIJA/IRA Bureau of Land Management Headquarters (HQ) Wildlife Program
Overview and Eligible Uses:
The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Wildlife Program has introduced a new grant initiative to support the restoration and conservation of wildlife habitats on public lands. This program seeks to address habitat fragmentation, improve connectivity for migratory species such as big game and birds, and ensure compliance with land health standards. By leveraging science-based approaches, the initiative aims to enhance habitat resilience to climate change, including addressing issues like drought impacts and invasive species. Through collaborative efforts with federal, state, tribal, and non-governmental partners, the program will use innovative technologies and existing data to inform management strategies that uphold biodiversity and long-term ecosystem health.
Grant funding can be applied to a variety of wildlife habitat conservation activities, including:
Restoring landscapes to improve habitat connectivity for migratory species and other wildlife.
Supporting state and tribal wildlife agencies in addressing data gaps and conducting coordinated regional monitoring.
Utilizing existing assessments or data to understand climate change impacts on priority ecosystems, such as water availability during droughts or invasive species management.
Implementing projects that align with land health standards and desired resource objectives as outlined in BLM land use plans.
Advancing geospatial data sharing and innovative monitoring techniques to support wildlife management and conservation efforts.
This program encourages collaborative, data-driven solutions to enhance wildlife habitats and build ecological resilience in the face of environmental challenges.
