First Round Applications are due January 31st, 2025, at 5:00pm ET
Announcement Type: Notice of Funding Opportunity (this program is accepting applications)
Opportunity: FY25 IIJA/IRA Bureau of Land Management Oregon/Washington (ORWA) Threatened and Endangered Species Program
Overview and Eligible Uses: The BLM ORWA Threatened and Endangered Species Program supports the conservation and recovery of over 330 federally-listed and more than 2,700 Bureau-sensitive species, along with their habitats, on public lands. This program emphasizes proactive, on-the-ground actions to improve species populations, reduce threats, and enhance public understanding of BLM Special Status Species. Funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, the program aligns with Department of Interior and Biden-Harris Administration priorities, such as biodiversity protection, climate resilience, and equitable community engagement. Projects with regional or programmatic scopes that improve conservation effectiveness or efficiency are highly encouraged.
Eligible projects include on-the-ground conservation and recovery actions for BLM Special Status Species, inventory and monitoring efforts to determine species status, habitat management initiatives, and species augmentation through translocation, seed collection, or propagation. Additionally, funding supports public education and outreach, especially targeting underserved communities, and efforts to increase program efficiency in implementing Endangered Species Act consultations and conservation programs. All projects must contribute to program goals, leverage the best available science, and align with national priorities such as addressing climate change and advancing racial equity.
