Applications Open for new $700M+ Grant Program
The news marks the second major announcement today of new funding opportunities under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
Announcement Type: Notice of Funding Opportunity (the program, authorized under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is now open for applications)
Opportunity: Abandoned Mine Lands program (DOI)
Overview and Eligible Uses: AML reclamation projects close dangerous mine shafts, reclaim unstable slopes, prevent releases of harmful gases, including methane, improve water quality by treating acid mine drainage, and restore water supplies damaged by mining.
Amount: Grants for each state and the Navajo Nation range between $987k and $245M, for a total of $725M allocated during FY22. The program will fund $11.3B over 15 years.
Award Type: Formula grant (non-competitive)
Eligible Applicants: 22 states and the Navajo Nation. (Full list of eligible states and allocated amounts)
