DOE Opens Applications for $32M Methane Measurement and Mitigation Grant Opportunity

Opportunity: Innovative Methane Measurement, Monitoring, and Mitigation Technologies (iM4 Technologies) (DOE)
Overview and Eligible Uses: The program is meant to ensure efficient, resilient, and leak-tight natural gas infrastructure. There are five project types or “areas of interest” eligible for funding:
Mitigation of Methane Emissions from Upstream/Midstream Sources
Surface-based Methane Monitoring and Measurement Network Pilot Demonstration
Basin-Specific Methane Emissions Inventory via Field Assessments
Integrated Methane Monitoring Platform Design
Storage Tank Emissions Assessment and Quantification (STEAQ)
Amount: ~15 awards between $1M-$6M, up to a total of $32M. A 20%-50% cost share is required based on project type.
Award Type: Competitive grant
Eligible Applicants: For-profit entities (including foreign entities), educational institutions, nonprofits, state, local, and tribal governments are eligible to apply.
Key Dates: Applications are due on October 4, 2022
